ORIGIN OF WOMENSPEAK 

WOMENSPEAK 2007, the first Conference, was held in San Antonio, Texas. It began with a vision of women from different races and all walks of life gathering together to be a force that would impact the world by using their collective wisdom and voices to create waves of change.
Women from 33 states, Canada, Europe, Asia, Israel, India, and Africa participated in this gathering.

WOMENSPEAK 2010 was birthed when authors Paula D’Arcy and Joyce Rupp walked a small section of the Underground Railroad, a route of freedom for runaway slaves that stretches from Mobile, Alabama to Canada.  This conference will focus on what unites us: a common spirit, the longing in human hearts for peace, the values of diversity and an acceptance of each person’s worth and dignity.
